Executive Director of Workforce Development

Position Summary:

The Executive Director of Workforce Development is responsible for providing leadership and vision for all college and career planning initiatives within Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) and developing and implementing strategic plans to support students\' college and career readiness and success. Essential Duties: Great Teaching & Learning (Instructional Infrastructure):

Develop and implement comprehensive college and career readiness plans that include identifying and facilitating college and career pathways for all students. Develop and implement programs and initiatives to support students in gaining career-related experience, including internships, job shadowing, and volunteer opportunities. Develop and implement strategies to support students in the college application process, including exploring and selecting college majors and careers, college essay writing, financial aid applications, and preparing for college admission exams.

Great People (Talent Management):

Provide oversight, leadership, and guidance to the workforce development team. Participate actively in professional associations and continue professional growth through reading, coursework, workshops, seminars, and conferences.

Great Culture (Systems Leader):

Collaborate with school and district leaders to align college and career planning initiatives with academic programs and standards. Create and maintain partnerships with colleges, universities, and employers to provide opportunities for students to explore career pathways. Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and businesses to provide career-related programming and resources. Collaborate with other educational institutions, state, and national organizations to share best practices and resources related to college and career planning. Seek funding/resources for increased and improved program and technology activities. Provide positive promotion of programs to students, administrators, counselors, parents, and the community.

Great Systems (Support & Accountability):

Ensure that all college and career planning initiatives align with the OKCPS mission, vision, and values. Collaborate with other OKCPS departments to analyze data and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of college and career planning initiatives, and implement improvements as needed. Develop and implement strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of college and career planning initiatives and adjust programs as necessary to meet students\' needs. Interpret policies and procedures of the Oklahoma Department of Career Technology Education (ODCTE) and cooperate with administrative leadership to implement the policies and procedures related to career technology education. Prepare and present reports to district leaders related to college and career planning initiatives. Manage budgets, grants, and funding related to career-technology and other postsecondary opportunity programs.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities): Master\'s degree in education, academic counseling, or related field. Ten (10) or more years of experience in college and career planning or related field. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including students, parents, faculty, staff, and community partners. Strong organizational and project management skills. Knowledge of current trends and best practices in college and career planning. Understanding of applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and compliance requirements governing college and career planning programs. Knowledge of K-12 education systems and processes, including state and federal education requirements and standards. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Strong analytical and data-informed decision-making skills. *Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Therefore for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted. Physical/Mental Requirements: Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer. Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties. Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone. Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds. Sitting for prolonged periods of time. May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
