It combines strategic oversight, curriculum development, and partnership building with local and regional fire agencies. Under general guidelines, this position provides administrative leadership and strategic oversight for all fire training programs within the Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex. This role ensures compliance with the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training, manages personnel and resources, and develops partnerships with local and regional fire service agencies to advance training excellence and workforce development. Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Direct and oversee all Fire Academy programs, including recruit training, advanced certifications, and continuing education. Ensure compliance with Florida Bureau of Firefighter Standards and Training requirements and college accreditation standards. Recruit, supervise, and evaluate instructors, adjunct faculty, and support staff. Manage program budget, equipment inventory, and facilities (including burn buildings, training tower, and live fire/simulation areas). Develop, update, and assess curriculum to reflect current industry best practices and fire service standards. Oversee student recruitment, admissions, orientation, and retention processes. Promote partnerships with municipal and county fire agencies, statewide associations, and community stakeholders. Enforce safety policies, procedures, and risk management measures during all training activities. Represent the Fire Academy at college committees, professional associations, and public events. Seek and manage grants or external funding to support program initiatives. Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred). Active Fire Instructor certification (minimum level II) with the Florida Fire College. Comprehensive knowledge of Florida Bureau of Fire Standards rules and regulations and maintenance of fire training grounds and equipment. Experience with curricula design and development for Fire College programs. Knowledge of FESHE network standards and curriculum. Knowledge of Florida fire training facility requirements. Experience monitoring budgets and managing purchases. At least 7 years of progressively responsible fire service experience, including leadership or training roles. Strong organizational, mentoring, problem‑solving, and communications skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows applications. Experience recruiting, retaining, and placing students. Physical Demands

This position is classified as light work, involving lifting up to 20 pounds at a time and routine walking or standing. Ability to perform duties that require sitting for extended periods, with occasional pushing/pulling. Classification and Employment Details
