Overview Construction Management Business Class Director (Water Business Group) at HDR. The primary duty of the Construction Management Business Class Director is to provide strategic national focus on positioning HDR as a preferred provider for construction services in the water infrastructure industry. The Director shall provide business group–wide leadership regarding CM business development, project delivery and group leadership/communications. The role reports to the WBG Service Delivery Director.

Responsibilities

Business Development:

Maintain market intelligence regarding industry competition, potential partners, acquisitions and/or new hires. Capture HDR and competition SOQ’s, proposals, presentations, scopes of work with associated fees. Ensure all regions maintain CM pursuit target lists and Client Maintenance plans relevant to CM delivery. Support capture planning efforts, preproposal visitations, qualifications and proposal preparation to promote a more formulaic approach to HDR CM business development and client interaction. Provide marketing support on all pursuits to elevate HDR’s selection hit rate. Maintain lists of major CM or PM/CM or OA/CM projects. Maintain toolkit, SharePoint sites, and promote best practices/tools across the Business Group. Implement Presentation/Interview training workshops for all Senior Construction Managers.

Project Delivery:

Capture/disseminate relevant CM delivery lessons learned. Ensure use of HDR best practices, procedures, templates and protocol for more consistent CM delivery coast to coast. Work with other Business Class Directors on delivery of existing projects and long-term tactical plans for the water construction services program. Provide principal level project management and issue resolution when needed. Track/trend actual project delivery costs against budget and incorporate lessons learned into future scope/fee development. Maintain list of CM/CI resources and provide CM resource planning across the Business Group. Lead PARR reviews (for projects entering the construction phase); train additional staff to be Lead Reviewers and participate in reviews. Perform project site audits to ensure proper CM protocol, resources, and coordinate owner communication. Promote the use of the RAKEN Field Reporting App and update HDR Technical Guidelines as needed; manage annual license renewals and seat allocations. Promote and administer Newforma Construction Administration (Newforma CA) for workflows and status dashboards. Serve as the WBG point of contact on CMIS questions. Update and maintain HDR Construction Management Manual, CM Procedures/Forms & Field Checklists and ensure CM access/use across the Business Group.

Construction Management Leadership and Communications:

Reinvigorate CM Practice Community with regular calls; broadcast wins, lessons learned and information. Collaborate with Field Services Communications Director, Construction Services Director, other Business Class Directors, SH&E Director, Field Services Client Development Lead, Project Controls Director, and CCC Director of Operations; participate in Field Services Steering Committee. Lead CMAA engagement and represent HDR as a CMAA Board member. Coordinate CMAA dues, sponsorships, and nomination submissions; maintain a list of HDR CCMs and encourage certification pursuit. Ensure staff development through CM training plans, protocols and sessions.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years of experience in managing construction delivery programs for the water infrastructure industry. PE or related professional certifications are desirable. This position can be located in any HDR US office.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering or closely related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in the related field. Professional registration and related technical experience. Experienced in development and management of diverse teams. Ability to work cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts. The expected compensation range for this position is $163,422-$324,250 depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.).
