The primary duty of the Construction Management Business Class Director is to provide strategic national focus on positioning HDR as a preferred provider for construction services in the water infrastructure industry. The Director provides Business Group-wide leadership regarding CM business development, project delivery, and group leadership/communications. The Director shall capture and codify best practices, tools, templates, protocol, and other intelligence to sustain successful Construction Management delivery across the entire Business Group. This position reports to the WBG Service Delivery Director. Responsibilities
Business Development: Maintain market intelligence regarding industry competition, potential partners, acquisitions and/or new hires. Capture HDR and competition SOQs, proposals, presentations, scopes of work with associated fees. Ensure all regions maintain CM pursuit target lists and Client Management plans relevant to CM delivery. Support capture planning efforts, preproposal visits, qualifications and proposal preparation to standardize HDR CM business development and client interaction. Provide marketing support on pursuits to improve HDR’s selection hit rate. Maintain list of Major CM or PM/CM or OA/CM Projects. Maintain tool kits, related SharePoint sites, and promote best practices across the Business Group. Implement presentation/interview training workshops for all Senior Construction Managers. Project Delivery: Capture and disseminate relevant CM delivery lessons learned. Ensure use of HDR best practices, procedures, templates, and protocols for consistent CM delivery coast to coast. Collaborate with other BCDs on delivery of existing projects and long-term tactical plans for the water construction services program. Provide principal-level project management and issue resolution when needed. Track and trend actual project delivery costs against budget and incorporate lessons learned into future scope/fee development. Maintain list of CM/CI resources and availability and provide CM resource planning across the Business Group. Lead PARR reviews for projects entering the construction phase and train staff to be Lead Reviewers. Conduct occasional project site audits and promote the use of HDR Field Reporting App; coordinate license renewals and procurement with related teams. Promote and administer use of Newforma Construction Administration software for managing workflows and dashboards. Serve as the WBG point of contact on CMIS questions. Update and maintain the HDR Construction Management Manual, CM Procedures/Forms & Field Checklists. Construction Management Leadership and Communications: Reinvigorate CM Practice Community, plan and conduct regular CM Practice Community calls, and broadcast wins and lessons learned. Collaborate with Field Services Communications Director, Construction Services Director, other Business Class Directors, SH&E Director, Field Services Client Development Lead, Project Controls Director, and CCC Director of Operations; participate in Field Services Steering Committee. Lead CMAA engagement; represent HDR as a CMAA Board member, manage dues, sponsorships, and award nominations; maintain a CCM credentialing incentive among HDR staff. Ensure CM staff development with a training plan and sessions. Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years of experience in managing construction delivery programs for the water infrastructure industry. PE or related professional certifications are desirable. This position can be located in any of our US HDR offices. Required Qualifications
