Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools The Director of Executive Services, under minimal supervision, performs senior level work with considerable decision-making discretion supporting the effective and efficient operation of the Superintendent's Office by managing executive logistics, coordinating district leadership workflows, and ensuring the smooth execution of administrative priorities. This role serves as a key operational leader within the central office, working closely with internal departments, district leadership, and the Board of Education to support district-wide initiatives and high-level executive functions under the direction of the Superintendent. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time. Essential Functions
Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs/staff in the district Serve as the Executive Office Manager for staff assigned to the Superintendent's Office Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Superintendent's/Chief of Staff Office, ensuring smooth execution of schedules, communications, and administrative processes Coordinate the preparation of reports, briefings, and presentations for the Superintendent and Chief of Staff Maintain systems for tracking tasks, requests, and deadlines to ensure timely and organized follow-through on executive-level initiative Support the execution of special projects aligned with the Superintendent's and Chief of Staff's priorities Track progress and timelines for cross-functional initiatives involving district departments, school sites, or community stakeholders Assist in preparing project updates and status reports for Cabinet and Board review Coordinate logistics and materials for Board of Education meetings in collaboration with Board Operations Support the preparation of Board agenda items, briefing documents, and follow-up actions Ensure timely communication and document flow between the Executive Office and Board members Facilitate internal communication between the Superintendent's Office and department leaders, school principals, and administrative staff Serve as a point of contact for stakeholder inquiries directed to the Superintendent's Office, ensuring timely and appropriate responses Plan and coordinate logistics, agendas, materials, and follow-up for Cabinet and other executive-led convenings Ensure meeting materials are prepared in advance, and all action items are tracked to completion Supervise and coordinate administrative support staff assigned to the Superintendent's Office Maintain and improve internal systems for filing, communication, scheduling, and executive documentation Manage budgets or financial processes related to executive travel, meeting logistics, and special initiatives, as applicable Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly Facilitate meetings or professional development, and attend other related meetings as needed/required Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations Perform related work as assigned or required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Thorough in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public-school systems Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to public school systems Knowledge of challenges facing large school districts Skilled in communications planning and project management skills Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills Ability to develop innovative programs and specialized environments to promote excellence in student growth and achievement Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs Ability to develop and monitor a budget Ability to direct and evaluate the work of others Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily business operations Ability to communicate effectively Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgement Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new and/or current programs Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work, planning, risk assessments, and associated risk mitigation actions Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment Education And Experience
Bachelor's degree in education, public administration or related area required Master's degree in school administration preferred NC Certification (Teacher or Principal) preferred Minimum of three (3) years' experience as school or district administrator preferred Equivalent combination of experience and education Special Requirements
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
