Currently, there is

Public Works Crew Chief vacancy in the
Facilities Maintenance Division
of the Public Works Municipal Operations Department. This position will assist in supervising and participating with work crews engaged in maintenance, repair, and construction activities supporting the department’s systems, services, and programs. This role involves supervising and training staff or contractors in the maintenance, construction, and repair of city infrastructure, ensuring safety protocols are followed and city standards are met. Responsibilities include coordinating with other departments, overseeing contractor work, maintaining records and reports (including NPDES compliance), and responding to public inquiries or emergencies. This role is designated for
swing shift hours
.
Selection Components

Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with the first review date of
August 27, 2025
or at 150 applications—whichever occurs first. Candidates deemed most qualified will be invited to an interview. Interview:
Tentatively scheduled for
Tuesday, September 9, 2025
. Passing candidates will be placed on an eligibility list for future vacancies.
Schedule: This position works a 9/80 schedule, with hours from
1:30 PM to 11:00 PM , alternating Mondays off.

A combination of experience and education that provides the required knowledge and abilities may qualify. Typical qualifications include: Experience:
Three years of responsible maintenance, construction, and repair work, with lead experience preferred. Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certifications are desirable. License or Certificate:
Valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required; a Class A license must be obtained within twelve months if applicable. Commercial vehicle operation requires drug and alcohol testing. Depending on the assignment, additional requirements may include: Possession or ability to obtain a Qualified Applicator’s Certificate within twelve months. Possession or ability to obtain a Certified Arborist credential within twelve months. Please Note:
Qualified candidates will be invited to continue in the process. A thorough background check, including fingerprinting, will be conducted. Convictions do not necessarily disqualify applicants but will be considered. Disaster Service Worker:
In accordance with Government Code Section 3100, City employees may be asked to respond during a disaster.
