General purpose and expectations: Responsible for the management and supervision of all areas assigned by the Store Manager and for following policies regarding Customers, Associates, and merchandising. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager leads the store operations to ensure company standards and best practices are met. Responsibilities
Leads all Company Best Practices and maximizes productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working. Assists in the analysis of Store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall Store performance. Communicates variances to Company standards to the Store Manager. Ensures proper scheduling of Associates to meet business objectives. Ensures compliance with all State, Local and Federal regulations. Ensures scheduling and completion of all Associate cleaning tasks throughout the store, including restrooms. Accepts special assignments as directed by Leadership. Responsible for payroll administration including daily punch edits, Associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and Payroll reporting as needed. Organizational Development: Assists in recruiting, hiring, training and developing non-exempt Associates; ensures compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures; assists with Associate relations issues as needed. Expense Control: Assists in managing and monitoring actual expenditures to stay within budget; controls payroll hours as a primary controllable expense and adjusts to business trends. Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment: Practices safety, ensures emergency operating procedures are understood, and maintains adherence to safety policies; assists in monthly safety meetings. Customer Service: Treats customers and colleagues with respect; demonstrates courtesy and professionalism; trains and supervises staff in customer service and merchandise presentation; supervises staff across registers, service desks, fitting rooms, and sales floors. Personal And Store Brand: Represents the company brand, maintains a professional appearance and dress code compliance, ensures a clean and easy-to-shop store environment, and oversees housekeeping with maintenance support. Merchandise Processing and In-Store Marketing: Ensures recovery, sizing and markdowns align with standards; presents merchandise according to guidelines; manages merchandise processing to the sales floor within Company timeframes. Loss Prevention: Assists in training on loss prevention, safeguards assets and information, leads inventory processes, monitors stock policies, and maintains PVM system uptime. Competencies: Manages work processes, business acumen, prioritizes and plans, builds talent, collaborates, leads by example, communicates effectively, ensures accountability and execution. Qualifications And Special Skills
Two or more years of Store or Assistant Store Manager experience in a retail environment. Ability to supervise, motivate, and communicate positively to store associates at all levels. Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, give direction, and follow through to completion. Ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgment. Maintain high quality of customer service. Fluency in English. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments. Physical Requirements / ADA
Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required. Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; ability to push/pull and lift more than 25 lbs occasionally. Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies. Supervisory Responsibilities
