Associate Director Automation, Analytical Lab
This onsite position is in the greater Indianapolis area and requires relocation. A relocation package & service will be provided by the client.
A global biopharma manufacturer is hiring an
Associate Director of Automation Engineering
to lead a team focused on
laboratory systems, system administration, and integration
at a next-generation manufacturing facility. This site will combine R&D and GMP manufacturing, enabling cutting-edge capabilities in drug development and clinical supply.
The role is ideal for a collaborative and technically strong leader who thrives in dynamic environments and has experience across
automation, lab systems, and system integration
in regulated settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor process control and automation engineers
Oversee implementation and support of lab automation and control system infrastructure
Manage staffing, performance, and team development
Drive delivery of automation business plans and project execution
Support GMP compliance, safety, and operational readiness from commissioning to routine operations
Required Qualifications:
B.S. in Engineering or related field
10+ years in biopharma automation, IT, or manufacturing
Experience with lab systems, system administration, and integration in GMP environments
Preferred Experience:
Commissioning and qualification of lab and analytical systems (e.g., cell counters, environmental monitoring, FACS)
Experience with SCADA, DCS, MES, LIMS, and historian systems
Leadership in automation for greenfield or highly automated sites
Proven success building teams and technical capabilities from the ground up

Compensation and Location Base pay range:
$165,000.00/yr - $185,000.00/yr
