Contract (with potential for extension or conversion, depending on role focus) Overview Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced
Category Manager
to lead strategic sourcing and vendor management efforts for enterprise-wide technology initiatives. This role focuses primarily on IT transformation projects, including large-scale implementations such as SAP S/4HANA and Customer Information Systems (CIS). The successful candidate will drive contract negotiations, manage key vendor relationships, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support fast-paced, high-impact programs. A secondary (conditional) aspect of this role may include short-term support for wind energy projects—focusing on regulatory and tax-driven contracts with aggressive timelines. Key Responsibilities Lead sourcing strategy and contract negotiations for complex IT transformation initiatives. Manage vendor relationships, ensuring performance and compliance with contract terms. Partner with internal stakeholders across IT, legal, finance, and business operations. Support procurement processes for high-value enterprise systems, including SAP S/4HANA and CIS platforms. Ensure alignment with regulatory, financial, and business requirements. Provide short-term procurement support for renewable energy and infrastructure-related projects, as needed. Independently manage priorities while operating within a collaborative, cross-functional environment. Engage and influence senior leadership and key decision-makers. Required Skills & Experience 10+ years of IT sourcing and contracting experience , with a focus on enterprise applications and services. Proven track record of successful
vendor negotiations and multi-vendor contract management . Experience supporting
SAP S/4HANA , CIS, or other major IT transformation projects. Strong knowledge of
procurement best practices , legal terms, and risk management in large-scale contracts. Demonstrated ability to work independently and
influence senior stakeholders . Experience in or familiarity with the
utility or energy industry
strongly preferred. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Background in
wind/renewable energy contracting
(regulatory/tax-driven project work). Experience working in
regulated industries
or capital-intensive environments. Familiarity with systems integrators and large-scale IT services agreements. Hybrid model – onsite presence required Tuesday through Thursday. Office location options include downtown Minneapolis, MN or Denver, CO. Collaborative and fast-paced environment with a high degree of autonomy expected.
