Pediatric Oncology RN Job Details

  • Location: Portland, OR 97239
  • Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1820 - $1950
  • Unit: Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (October 14, 2025 – January 13, 2026)
  • Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Patient Population: Pediatric patients ages 0-18 (select cases up to 25 years)
  • Unit Size: 21 beds
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3
  • Weekend Shifts: Required
  • Floating: May float within hospital as needed

Pediatric Oncology RN Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant/cellular therapy RN experience
  • Active Registered Nurse license (Oregon RN license preferred; pending license accepted with application submitted)
  • BLS and PALS certifications (AHA required)
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider card (APHON or ONS)
  • Proficiency with Epic charting system
  • Professional references required
  • First-time travelers accepted with 3+ years of RN experience
  • No background or license issues accepted

Pediatric Oncology RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver intermediate-level clinical care to pediatric hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant patients
  • Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy, including care for BMT patients and management of central lines
  • Provide moderate sedation for procedures such as bone marrow aspiration and lumbar puncture
  • Care for patients with diagnoses including leukemia, brain tumors, bone tumors, sarcoma, lymphomas, blood diseases, immunological diseases, storage diseases, and Graft vs Host Disease
  • Float to other hospital units as needed to provide specialized pediatric nursing care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, rapid response) to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR
