About the Role:
The Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient flow of materials within the construction environment, directly impacting project timelines and overall operational success. This position involves the accurate receipt, storage, and distribution of construction materials and equipment, maintaining organized inventory levels to support ongoing construction activities. The Material Handler collaborates closely with warehouse and site teams to facilitate timely order picking, shipping, and receiving processes, ensuring materials are available when and where they are needed. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to prevent damage to materials and ensure a safe working environment. Ultimately, this role supports the seamless execution of construction projects by managing materials with precision and reliability in the Fort Lauderdale area.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience operating material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks. Basic knowledge of warehouse management systems and bar code scanning technology. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods. Willingness to work overtime and flexible shifts as required. Clean driving record and being eligible to drive company's vehicles. Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in the construction industry or a related field. Familiarity with shipping/receiving protocols. Certification in forklift operation or other material handling equipment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience with warehouse management software. Basic computer literacy Responsibilities:
Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks to move materials safely and efficiently within the warehouse and construction sites. Perform order picking and packing duties accurately to prepare materials for shipping or delivery to various construction locations. Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and inspect materials for quality and damage. Maintain organized storage areas and update warehouse management systems to reflect current inventory status. Assist operations by supplying necessary materials, tools, and equipment and ensuring continuous workflow. Work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines and support peak operational periods. Utilize bar code scanning technology to track materials and maintain accurate inventory records. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize material handling tasks and resolve any logistical issues. Driving when required to deliver and/or retrieve materials
