The Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) coordinates and directs workforce development initiativesresponsive to the needs of Baltimore City employees and job seekers to enhance and promote the local economy. Job Summary

The Maryland Blueprint Career Counselor role will work under the direction of MOED in partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools’ Office of College and Career Readiness. The role delivers critical career advising services through the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, supporting middle and/or high school students through 1:1 and group advising to identify, explore, experience, and connect to career interests for postsecondary placement outcomes. The Career Coach works as part of a team with other Career Coaches and school-based staff. Essential Functions

Provide career advising that supports students in creating their career journey plans and selecting post-college and career readiness pathways Advise and support students, including high-risk or underserved populations, in obtaining essential job readiness skills Expose students and families to career options early to help engage them in school and develop their career path Monitor, maintain, and track student experiences through City Schools’ work-based learning continuum Leverage resources and connections including employers and programs such as Youthworks and Grads2Careers through MOED, City Schools, and Baltimore City Community College Make appropriate referrals to supportive services and school-based staff to meet student needs Keep accurate records and data on students related to their high school and post-high school education, training, and employment outcomes; compile data for local, state, and federal reports as necessary Coordinate and/or lead career readiness activities such as mock interview and resume workshops, job shadows, career days, etc. Collaborate with school-based teams to support student college and career success outcomes Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications

Spanish Speaking Proficiency required Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant field preferred. Experience: Two years of directly related experience working with young people. Equivalency Notes: An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted. Preference will be given to candidates with youth development practices experience or certification. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Must speak Spanish fluently Understanding of youth development and career coaching frameworks Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with diverse backgrounds Strong analytical writing and oral communication skills Ability to develop and conduct presentations and training sessions Strong data and project management skills Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, school-based teams, partners, businesses, and the public Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications Work Environment Requirements

Ability to travel to and between schools frequently Background check and fingerprinting required Additional Information

Background Check: Eligible candidates for positions of trust must complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint. Probation: A mandatory six-month probation is required for all selected applicants.
