Join the AWS Environmental Team as a Regional Environmental Engineer. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. AWS Infrastructure Services supports all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. The work of our Regional Environmental Engineers is critical to enabling AWS's growth in the US and around the world. You will partner with AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site-specific development strategies enabling the construction and operation of AWS datacenters and infrastructure. Key job responsibilities include: Assess environmental risks and requirements and develop mitigations and strategies to support data center siting and development strategies and site-specific project delivery. Lead technical aspects of environmental due diligence, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, regulatory and permitting evaluations, and natural, biological and cultural resource evaluations. Deliver environmental permits, approvals, and plans to enable on-time and compliant construction and operations for new data center locations and expansion of existing sites. Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external project partners. Coordinate with partner teams including Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, and others to optimize site designs to consider natural resource or operational constraints. Develop site development and permitting strategies that are environmentally responsible and sustainable while meeting project timelines. Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations in support of environmental permit acquisition and regional development strategies. Develop, manage and track metrics to evaluate project success Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related discipline. 7+ years of experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for existing sites and new development. 5+ years experience conducting environmental due diligence for greenfield and brownfield sites, including Phase I and Phase II ESAs and support for investigative and remedial activities. At least 3 years of project or task management experience for environmental permitting and/or due diligence projects. Preferred Qualifications Data center or critical infrastructure due diligence, design, construction, and/or or risk assessment experience strongly preferred. Experience in multiple states within the US (preferably in OH, MO, and IN) Experience managing and/or supporting community/public interactions. Experience with Smartsheets or other project management software. Up to 25% travel Experience working with large teams on a diverse slate of projects. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $98,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,800/year in our highest geographic market.
