Food Service Director
to manage the daily operations of the dietary department in a skilled nursing facility. The ideal candidate will oversee menu planning, food preparation, sanitation, budgeting, staff management, and compliance with state and federal guidelines. Job Summary:
The
Food Service Director
is responsible for ensuring the provision of nutritious, high-quality meals that meet residents’ needs and regulatory standards. Plan, develop, and oversee food service programs to meet nutritional requirements and individual dietary needs. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations including health codes, safety standards, and dietary guidelines. Manage all dietary staff: hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating performance, and ensuring ongoing education. Prepare and maintain department budget, control costs, and manage inventory. Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure meals align with resident care plans. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety throughout the kitchen and dining areas. Conduct regular audits, inspections, and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance and resident satisfaction. Respond to resident concerns, preferences, and feedback with professionalism and compassion. Requirements:
Associate's Degree in Culinary, Business, or a related field required. Culinary or dietary management certification preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure. Exemplary customer service skills. Flexible with call-backs during emergency conditions. Minimum 2-3 years of food service management experience, preferably in long-term care or healthcare. Strong knowledge of dietary regulations, food safety practices, and special diets.
