Position Information The Institute for Biomedical Sciences at Georgia State University invites applications for tenure-track faculty position at the Associate Professor levels to begin in August 2025. Applicants should have an Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Science or a related discipline. Prospective applicants should have an exceptional record of achievement in biomedical research, a commitment to biomedical science education and a strong record of scholarly activity including outstanding external federal funding. The candidate must provide evidence of the successful establishment of a nationally recognized research program and excellence in innovative scholarly research, including student success activities. All areas of Biomedical Science will be considered with preference given to candidates with expertise in the areas of inflammatory and infectious diseases, microbial pathogenesis, vaccine and drug development in infectious diseases, immunology and inflammation. New faculty members will be supported by competitive start-up packages and excellent laboratory space. Outstanding candidates will have the opportunity to be nominated as Georgia Research Alliance Distinguished Investigator (GRA). GRA investigators are expected to engage in translational and/or economic development efforts in their field.

Required Experience Academic experience on the tenure-track, involving research, teaching, and service at a higher education institution, is required for a minimum of four years for the rank of Associate Professor.

Required Education Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Science or a related discipline

Preferred Qualifications/Experience Exceptional record of achievement in biomedical research, a commitment to biomedical science education, and a strong record of scholarly activity including outstanding external federal funding. Successful establishment of a nationally recognized research program and of excellence in innovative scholarly research, including student success activities. All areas of Biomedical Science will be considered, with preference given to candidates with expertise in the areas of inflammatory and infectious diseases, microbial pathogenesis, vaccine and drug development in infectious diseases, immunology and inflammation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to continue a nationally recognized program in innovative scholarly research.

Ability to effectively teach a variety of biomedical science courses offered by the institute.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve discipline, department, or college goals.

Work Hours Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend and/or other campus locations).
