Gerlach Endowed Chair in Epilepsy Research - Neurology Department

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Department of Neurology, seeks an outstanding investigator at the Associate or Full Professor level to lead the Gerlach Endowed Chair in Epilepsy Research. This leadership position will be under the direction of Dr. Benjamin Segal, MD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurology and Director of the Neuroscience Research Institute, and Dr. Danielle Becker, Division Director of Epilepsy. Overview The Director of Epilepsy Research will build a world-class team of investigators with complementary interests and skills, dedicated to increasing our understanding of epileptic disorders. The focus may include neurogenetics, Epilepsy Surgery, and Health Services Research. The Department of Neurology at OSU Wexner Medical Center comprises 15 divisions, 63 physicians, 5 psychologists, 12 research faculty, 24 residents, and 14 fellows. We operate across multiple ambulatory facilities and hospitals with extensive clinical and research programs, a large telestroke network, and significant research funding. Our portfolio emphasizes neurogenetics, neuroimmunology, and neurodegenerative medicine, and we offer robust education and training opportunities, including clinical fellowships and international programs. Our residency program and research initiatives are nationally recognized. Minimum Education Required Doctorate (Academic) Required Qualifications PhD, or MD/PhD required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen. Faculty Types and Context Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) are appointed for terms of three to five years and focus on clinical care, teaching, and may involve research. Tenure-track faculty (regardless of rank) focus on research, service, and teaching and may also be involved in clinical care. Research faculty focus on research and are not tenure-eligible.
