RESEARCH ASSISTANT 2, School of Medicine, Anatomy & Neurobiology The Research Assistant will support an NIH-funded research study on the impact of psychosocial stress and cardiorespiratory fitness on brain health and mental health in Black emerging adult college/university students. The role includes conducting informed consent and screening, providing technical support (including maintaining minor equipment, organizing and archiving datasets), and data collection (cardiorespiratory fitness testing, collecting and analyzing actigraphy data, assisting with structured interviews on mental health, trauma history, perceived discrimination). The position also involves assisting with tasks related to community engagement as needed. The individual will work closely with the postdoctoral fellow. The candidate should have relevant prior experience in an academic research setting and experience working with a diverse research team and diverse groups of research participants. This position may be well-aligned with individuals considering future doctoral study, given the research exposure and technical work involved.

Responsibilities

Conduct informed consent and screening.

Provide technical support, including maintaining minor equipment, organizing and archiving datasets.

Data collection, including cardiorespiratory fitness testing, collecting and analyzing actigraphy data, and assisting with structured interviews on mental health, trauma history, and perceived discrimination.

Assist with tasks related to community engagement as needed.

Work closely with the postdoctoral fellow.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience.

Experience in an academic research setting.

Experience working with a diverse research team and interacting with diverse groups of research participants.

Interest in future doctoral study is a plus.
