Overview
Wilmer Eye Institute is seeking applications for a highly qualified, full-time, fellowship-trained cornea and external disease specialist, with a concentration in ocular surface disease and ocular immunology to join the Wilmer Cornea Service with joint appointment in the Division of Ocular Immunology, which provides individualized care for patients suffering from ocular surface disorders and complex immune mediated corneal conditions and is focused on basic, clinical, and translational research. This position requires excellent clinical and surgical skills (specifically in high-risk corneal grafts, limbal stem transplants, keratoprosthesis, etc.), dedication to academic medicine, and commitment to teamwork and professional growth. Primary clinical activity will occur at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore with potential for some clinical effort at one of the Wilmer Eye Institute practice locations. The candidate will also be a faculty member in the Department of Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and will engage in teaching of fellows and ophthalmology residents in addition to research activities.
Responsibilities
Provide clinical care and surgical services in cornea and external disease with a focus on ocular surface disease and ocular immunology, including high-risk grafts, limbal stem transplants, keratoprosthesis, and related procedures.
Contribute to basic, clinical, and translational research and participate in academic medicine.
Engage in teaching of fellows and ophthalmology residents and collaborate with the Department of Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Primary clinical activity at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore with potential for clinical effort at other Wilmer locations.
Qualifications
Completed an ACGME accredited ophthalmology residency training program and/or be certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology or be board eligible.
Completed a fellowship in cornea and external disease. Training in ocular immunology and post-fellowship work experience preferred.
Excellent clinical and surgical skills as described (high-risk grafts, limbal stem transplants, keratoprosthesis, etc.).
Faculty rank will be determined by experience and credentials.
Salary and Benefits Salary: Dependent upon rank, Instructor $135,000 - $155,000; Assistant Professor $145,000 - $168,000; Associate Professor $170,000 - $212,000; Professor $195,000 - $340,000*
Salary range reflects base pay and is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This range does not include all components of the Department of Ophthalmology faculty compensation program or incentive programs. Actual compensation may vary. For more information, please contact the hiring department.
