Senior Air Quality Specialist/Engineer – Environmental Services Location: Minneapolis, MN 55402 Type: Permanent Benefits: Excellent benefits package Travel: Up to 10% We are seeking a Senior Air Quality Specialist/Engineer to lead air permitting and compliance services for clients in the industrial, power, commercial, transportation, and manufacturing sectors. This is a high-impact role offering project variety, leadership opportunities, and long-term career growth within a dynamic and expanding environmental practice. Responsibilities
Serve as a technical lead on air quality impact analyses and support clients throughout the project lifecycle. Lead the preparation of air permit applications and provide senior technical guidance to project teams. Verify emission calculations for routine operations, maintenance, startup, and shutdown scenarios. Conduct air dispersion modeling using EPA-approved tools such as AERMOD. Oversee and assist with multi-media environmental reporting and compliance plans (e.g., SPCC, SWPPP, EPCRA, risk assessments, site assessments). Prepare and present proposals, including scope, cost estimates, and schedules. Develop cost proposals and qualification packages to meet financial performance targets. Mentor and guide junior staff, providing leadership and technical instruction. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders. Support business development efforts and identify new project opportunities. Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and safety policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited program. Minimum 7–8 years of relevant experience in air permitting, compliance, or environmental consulting. Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local air regulations, including the Clean Air Act, NSR/PSD, NESHAP, NSPS, Title V, and Title VI. Experience with human health risk assessments and multimedia compliance audits. Proven ability to manage projects and mentor staff. Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Professional consulting experience and existing client relationships.
