Overview
The objective of the Space Development group is to provide innovative technology solutions to ensure our Nation achieves and maintains space superiority in a multi-domain conflict. We are looking for a software engineer to develop space combat power and multi-domain simulation software. This software will support force structure planning, Digital Test and Training – Synthetic Environment, Joint Combatant Command analysis and operations support, Space Force testing and training, and research and development of space systems. Collaborate using Confluence, Discourse, GitLab, and Jira to manage tasks and documentation Perform code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable software Present development progress to leadership and customers Conduct multidisciplinary research to support modeling and simulation objectives Contribute to team-wide vision, architecture, and strategic direction Design, develop, test, debug, and document simulation software for space applications What You Must Have
0 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years’ experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years relevant experience Proficient in C++, including compiling, linking, and debugging applications Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies Practical experience with issue tracking and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, GitLab) Must currently have an active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance Candidates must successfully complete a technical coding assessment in C++ as part of the evaluation process Preferred Requirements
Familiarity using Python, including embedded Python applications Knowledge of constructive agent-based and event-driven modeling and simulation is a plus Knowledge of space domain concepts: coordinate systems, timekeeping, orbital propagation Familiarity with space domain awareness and space combat power Background in mathematics or physics is a plus Understanding of parallel software development preferred Knowledge with US and Allied space enterprise operations is a plus Physical Requirements

The listed salary range for this role is $56,566.00 - $87,000.00. Anticipated salary range provided for budgeting purposes. HII offers competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision plans, wellness resources, Savings Plan Options (401(k)), life insurance, employee discounts, paid holidays and time off, tuition reimbursement, and education scholarships. Bonus/other non-recurrent compensation may be offered for qualified positions and, if applicable, will be discussed during screening. Security Clearance: Secret. Level of Experience: Entry Level.
