The Principal Information Security Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-wide security strategies that protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems. This role provides deep technical expertise, drives complex security initiatives, and serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in cybersecurity architecture, threat mitigation, and compliance. A key focus of the position is to secure on-premises and cloud-based workloads, as well as IT operations that support employees. Responsibilities

Design and implement enterprise security architecture across networks, cloud, applications, endpoints, and identity management. Secure on-premises and cloud-based workloads, along with IT operations supporting employees. Lead strategic security initiatives such as Zero Trust, threat modeling, and security automation. Evaluate and recommend cutting-edge tools, technologies, and practices to advance security posture. Perform technical risk assessments and architecture reviews for new and existing systems. Serve as a technical advisor during incident response, supporting complex investigations and root cause analysis. Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to embed security into CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments, and infrastructure-as-code. Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, GDPR). Mentor and guide junior security engineers and analysts, fostering skill growth and knowledge sharing. Develop clear documentation, threat models, diagrams, and reports for technical and business stakeholders. Stay informed on emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and trends; recommend proactive countermeasures. Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity engineering, including 3+ years in a senior or lead capacity. Advanced knowledge of security architecture, encryption, authentication, and cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP). Practical experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, DLP, IAM, SIEM, and vulnerability management. Familiarity with scripting (Python, PowerShell) and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible). Security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, OSCP, or GIAC strongly preferred. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Working Conditions

Must be able to perform essential job duties. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each workday), hear the telephone, and enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
