Overview

Assistant Professor, Agribusiness – California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly). The Agribusiness Department (AGB) in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences seeks a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty member starting August 17, 2026. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Responsibilities

Teach courses such as basic and intermediate agricultural economics, human resource management, data analytics, quantitative management methods, and agribusiness management. Collaborate with other departments within the college and with other colleges to integrate interdisciplinary teaching, including coverage for courses taken by non-AGB majors (e.g., Wine and Viticulture, Agricultural Communications, and Agricultural Systems Management) as well as AGB majors. Supervise undergraduate senior projects and advise student clubs and national competition teams. Engage in scholarly activities (research, grant writing, publications, presentations) and foster undergraduate research collaborations. Provide service on department, college, and university committees, and engage with state, national, and professional organizations. Qualifications

Required: Earned doctorate in Agricultural Economics, Resource Economics, Economics, Business Administration, Management, or a related field. ABD candidates may be considered with proof that the doctorate was awarded prior to the start of the appointment. Demonstrated or potential excellence in teaching, effective communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to be a productive team player. Demonstrated or potential ability to secure external funding and publish research; strong written and oral English proficiency. Commitment to student-centered learning, ability to work in multidisciplinary settings, and interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Preferred Qualifications

Applied and innovative research backgrounds with relevance to California agriculture. Industry experience, university-level teaching experience, a track record of external funding, and demonstrated ability to conduct impactful research. Special Conditions

About The Department

The Agribusiness Department includes roughly 600 undergraduate majors, over 140 minors, and 12 tenured/tenure-track faculty. The program offers a B.S. in Agribusiness with curricula in data analytics, agricultural economics, accounting, marketing, finance, risk management, supply chain management, human resource management, and related areas. Experiential learning and industry engagement are integral to the curriculum. How To Apply
