Senior Database Developer
with
10+ years of experience
in
Microsoft Access
and cloud-native SQL platforms to lead the migration of legacy Access databases into modern, scalable SQL environments. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in relational database design, migration strategy, and ETL pipelines, and will serve as a technical leader and trusted advisor to program users throughout the migration lifecycle. Responsibilities
Lead the analysis, design, and
migration
of legacy
Microsoft Access databases into cloud-based SQL
environments (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS). Collaborate with program users and stakeholders to document existing structures and workflows, then design scalable target schemas. Build and optimize ETL pipelines using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, AWS DMS, or equivalent tools. Develop runbooks, data dictionaries, validation scripts, and comprehensive migration documentation. Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and execution plan reviews. Deliver end-user training, knowledge transfer, and post-migration support. Ensure migration activities align with data governance, compliance, and security best practices. Candidate Skills and Qualifications
10+ years
proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining advanced Microsoft Access databases, including table structures, queries, forms, and reports. 10+ years
hands-on experience with Microsoft Access (queries, VBA for workflow automation, reporting). 10+ years ’ experience migrating Access or legacy databases into
cloud SQL platforms
(Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS for SQL Server/MySQL). 8+ years ’ experience with ETL tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, AWS DMS). 8+ years ’ experience creating migration runbooks, data dictionaries, and technical documentation. 8+ years ’ experience with database admin tools such as TOAD, SSMS, SQL Developer. 8+ years ’ experience with configuring, monitoring, and optimizing data integration/batch processing solutions. 8+ years
migrating data from legacy systems to new target databases. Preferred Skills
6+ years ’ experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub, JIRA). 6+ years ’ experience with visualization/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau). 6+ years
Agile methodology experience. 3+ years ’ experience in healthcare or public health. 3+ years ’ experience with State agencies or similar government environments. Seniority level
