Project Engineer – Battery Energy Storage (Massachusetts)

My client, a market leader in the deployment of advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems, is seeking a
Project Engineer
to support project delivery in Massachusetts and the broader New England region. This role requires an electrical engineering degree and hands-on experience in the design and execution of utility-scale energy storage projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical aspects of BESS projects from design through commissioning.
Prepare, review, and approve electrical design documents and equipment specifications.
Interface with ISO-NE and local utilities to meet interconnection requirements.
Coordinate with development, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Attend site visits for feasibility, constructability, and quality checks.
Respond to technical RFIs, review submittals, and manage design changes during construction.
Ensure compliance with Massachusetts codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
At least 3 years’ experience in BESS or renewable energy project engineering.
Familiarity with ISO-NE processes, high-voltage equipment, and grid integration.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to travel to project sites within Massachusetts and the surrounding region.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) licence in Massachusetts.
Experience with New England-specific permitting and utility interconnection processes.
