Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering has an opening for a highly Experienced Naval Architect in our Temporary Works Group. The Senior Naval Architect will lead preliminary and detailed structural design efforts and hydrodynamics on marine equipment and structures, support engineering integration, manage design, provide technical mentorship, and contribute to construction estimating, scheduling, and planning. The role includes connecting with Operating Districts, building strong stakeholder relationships in the Marine, Ports, Maritime, and Coastal space, and contributing to safety and quality objectives across projects. Kiewit is focused on a premier marine construction fleet. The group supports design-build and build-build projects by providing analysis, design, and oversight for marine-related temporary works including temporary bridges and trestles, cofferdams, bridge falsework, overwater platforms, barges and derricks, marine bulkheads, shoring systems, heavy lift and RO/RO operations, and deep in-water foundations for keystone bridge projects. A critical part of the mission is modernization and maintenance of the existing marine construction fleet, and construction of new vessels and equipment including floating falsework and mooring design and analysis. Responsibilities

Act as a Senior Naval Architect as part of the Temporary Works Naval Architecture design team on pursuits and projects requiring engineering support. Lead heavy lift and RO/RO planning (site logistics, equipment selection, geometry/feasibility studies, design of custom equipment, hoisting and jacking systems, custom tools, and crane pad/working surface designs on barges). Develop erection and ballasting procedures or planned sequences related to construction or demolition operations. Evaluate existing vessels for construction loads and/or demolition planning. Perform mooring and hydrodynamic analysis of floating vessels and in-water structures, work platforms, trestles, etc. Conduct structural analysis of barges and equipment; design equipment support systems. Modernize existing marine equipment and contribute to design and construction of new equipment. Lead a group of engineers & naval architects, providing technical mentorship and guiding multi-disciplinary projects. Perform and/or review calculations and design drawings according to industry codes, standards, client criteria, and structural/stability theories. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure project success and provide site inspections and technical oversight during operations. Ensure quality and accuracy of design deliverables and identify design risks with mitigation planning. Act as a facilitator of collaboration with construction teams during the design phase to optimize for constructability. Assist in project management activities including budgets, schedules, quality control, and coordination with operations districts and clients. Mentor and lead engineers in their technical development and contribute to technical proposals. Support development of the TW Marine engineering team by building internal tools and processes. Qualifications

Experience with marine construction equipment, naval architecture, and hydrodynamics in one or more industries. Accredited Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree or higher in Naval Architecture or related field is preferred. 20+ years of relevant engineering/naval architecture experience. 5+ years managing an engineering and design team of at least 5 engineers/naval architects. Professional Engineer licensure or eligibility in the United States and Canada. Strong knowledge of structural, mechanical, and naval architecture concepts. Experience with engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, BlueBeam, MathCAD, SAP2000, SolidWorks, RISA-3D, OPTIMOOR, FEMAP). Experience with vessel classification and regulatory agencies (Jones Act, ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s). Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with all levels of the organization. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment. Ability to organize and manage multiple project assignments and access construction sites in various climates and environments. Other Requirements

Base Compensation: $175,000/yr - $206,000/yr (varies with education, experience, skillset, and location).
