Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering has an opening for a dynamic Experienced Naval Architect/Engineer in our Construction Engineering Services (CES) Group, to support our fleet of over 55 large construction vessels. The ideal candidate will be part of a growing team that supports all aspects of the construction process by performing innovative design engineering, reviewing structural calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, and mitigating risk to keep construction crews safe. This is an opportunity to contribute to the modernization of our marine fleet and work directly with construction teams. The CES group provides on-site engineering and coordination support through leading and collaborating with Kiewit’s construction teams. Full Time Position Overview Responsibilities and work context involve supporting design-build tasks for marine construction projects, evaluating designs for constructability, and ensuring safety and compliance across vessel design and modification activities. Responsibilities

Perform design reviews and evaluate constructability. Independently performs work that requires conventional engineering but may also perform more complex engineering work with higher-level technical supervision. Conduct technical evaluations of structural analysis and load calculations to ensure sound design and compliance meeting requirements. Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Design and prepare engineering reports and related documentation, and devise charts and graphs to record results. Utilize computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite for reviewing and compiling information for data entry and transferring files and electronic/digital scans. Maintain, organize, track, and prioritize engineering documents (physical and electronic). Resolve technical issues and manage information generated through the design and construction phases of multiple and concurrent projects. Apply broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and practices of related specialties. Work closely with junior and senior engineers to create vessel and vessel system designs and research compliance specifications and technical design issues, including ship structures, hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, stability, and seakeeping. Interface with classification societies and USCG to attain and maintain class and load line certificates for various vessels in the marine construction fleet. Manage weight control during vessel modifications and perform deadweight surveys and inclining experiments when required Survey existing vessels to determine scope of repair and maintenance activities Perform and/or oversee vessel hull structure design for hull repair, modification, new or increased equipment loading, and new construction Analyze vessel stability for cargo, construction machinery loading, and crane operations; develop load capacity charts for derrick barge cranes and mobile cranes on barges Provide engineering support for hull outfitting and marine equipment, including cranes, winches, mooring systems, electrical and hydraulic powering systems, piping and ventilation, etc. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or related field is required. Marine background and experience is required. Professional Engineer licensure or eligibility within the United States 8+ years of marine/naval engineering experience preferred. Ability to analyze hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, system control logic, and other technical drawings and regulations (e.g., ABS, Lloyds, DNV, USCG). Experience working directly with Class and USCG to ensure vessel compliance with regulatory requirements Knowledge of structural, mechanical and electrical products in marine systems Strong academic knowledge of structural engineering Experience with engineering design software (AutoCAD, BlueBeam, MathCAD, Navisworks, RISA-3D, MOSES, etc.) is advantageous Experience working in a team setting with excellent communication skills Ability to travel/TDY assignments and/or relocate based on business needs Ability to access construction sites in various climates and environments Other Requirements
