Under the direction of a Senior Project Engineer, the co-op will support capital projects involving design, procurement, commissioning, start-up, validation, and management of equipment and related aspects to the site’s prioritized capital projects. The co-op will work closely with departmental and cross-functional teams focused on delivering project goals. Core Job Responsibilities
Provide project management support for GMP equipment procurement and upgrades from initial specification and selection through procurement and qualification. Develop engineering documentation (User Requirements, P&IDs, etc.) to support equipment design and perform engineering calculations required to size process lines, equipment, and instrumentation. Support commissioning and validation of project-related equipment, facility, and utilities to ensure the system is installed as designed, operates within design parameters, and can perform as designed to produce the intended product or environment. Co-op will be responsible for completing capital projects they’re assigned. Tasks associated include: Creating cost estimates to be used for requesting funding for capital projects Managing project budgets Creating and maintaining the project schedules Design, procurement, and validation of equipment/utilities Providing project updates with key stakeholders The co-op will also support the Engineering team on large capital projects by: Creating engineering documents (Technical Specifications, P&IDs, PDs, etc.) Supporting FAT activities Add new assets into the Maintenance program Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related programs. Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the co-op Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027 Must be able to commit to a 6-month program at AbbVie Bioresearch Center (ABC) in Worcester, MA (January – June).
