Overview
Sonoma Water is seeking a skilled Systems Software Analyst!

Responsibilities Managing complex network architectures including VLANs, subnetting, routing protocols, and network segmentation; performing network capacity planning, bandwidth analysis, and optimization to ensure optimal performance across enterprise infrastructure
Designing, implementing, and maintaining foundational technologies such as: Virtualization, Storage administration, Web (IIS), Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, and network infrastructure
Performing analysis on new technology solutions and their impact on existing hardware, software, and process; making informed recommendations to management and customers
Implementing and maintaining comprehensive IT security frameworks including endpoint protection, vulnerability management, security monitoring, incident response procedures, and compliance
Providing training to department staff in the use of systems, including conducting one-on-one training and developing online documentation for our knowledge base
Installing, configuring, and maintaining desktop and server operating system and application deployment systems for Water Agency staff
Qualifications Experience with Network troubleshooting and analysis tools such as Wireshark, network analyzers, SNMP monitoring systems, and packet capture analysis for performance optimization
The ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate data and information; draw valid conclusions and take appropriate actions and/or make appropriate recommendations
Experience with Microsoft Server Operating Systems and enterprise Windows infrastructure management
Knowledge of principles of data security and cybersecurity best practices, including threat assessment, risk mitigation, and security policy implementation
Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving system issues, and coordinating with vendors to ensure effective support across multiple platforms
Scripting and automation experience such as PowerShell, Python, or VB Scripting for system administration and network management tasks
Excellent administrative, analytic, organizational, written, and interpersonal skills
About Sonoma Water
Sonoma Water is a special district formed by the California State Legislature in 1949 and is responsible for providing a safe and reliable water supply to its customers in Sonoma and Marin counties. Sonoma Water also maintains 75 miles of flood control channels and provides sanitation services. Employing approximately 250 employees, Sonoma Water consists of four divisions, including Engineering & Resource Planning, Environmental Resources, Business Services & External Affairs, and Water/Wastewater Operations & Maintenance. Sonoma Water supports the concept of environmental sustainability, focusing on renewable power sources, and strives to be a leader in its water use efficiency and fishery restoration programs. Experience
- Any combination of training and experience which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, three years of technical professional experience involving systems analysis, programming, systems engineering, or similar field in a multi-platform information systems environment including experience installing and maintaining systems software and working with database structures. Additional, highly relevant professional level experience may be substituted for the required education.
Education
- Normally graduation from a four year college or university with major coursework in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field would provide this opportunity.
License
- Possession of a valid driver’s license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position. The position advertised on this announcement does require possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
