Overview
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast-paced technology company and a leader in the world of data centers. We are expanding our Network Infrastructure Design & Deployment (NIDD) team within Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) and are looking for a proven subject matter expert (SME) with experience in designing and planning copper and fiber network solutions, cabling pathways and a vision to take AWS Data Centers to the next level. The successful candidate will create detailed pathway and cabling designs, drive process improvements and adhere to industry and AWS standards.
The mission of the team is to deliver network capacity on time with zero rework. The Network design and planning SME will manage the planning phase of cable pathways and passive network solutions.
This role will be based out of a corporate office and remote sites; international and domestic travel may be required up to 25% of the time. This role requires specific US clearance.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you’ll work with engineers and managers company-wide to develop solutions for the physical layer. Your responsibilities will include developing pathway, space, and cabling designs, along with specifications for construction and permitting. Additionally, you’ll engage with industry suppliers and manufacturers to define product requirements and explore emerging technologies.
Ensure timely delivery of scalable fibre optic & copper plant designs and specifications.
Review and approve ICT pathway, cabling and equipment submittals.
Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively.
Support new technology and design activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time.
Travel 20+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS Data Centers.
Conduct quality assurance audits at project sites, collaborate with project managers and contractors, and implement corrective actions to resolve issues.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations, with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure.

Compensation and posting notice Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $98,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on market location and may vary with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
