Position Summary
The Senior Director of Project Accounting is responsible for all aspects of project accounting for Pike Enterprises LLC (PEL) and its subsidiaries (the Company). The Senior Director of Project Accounting works under the guidance of and assists the Finance/Accounting team and Operations team in managing the oversight, preparation, analysis, and distribution of the Company’s regional internal and external customer financial reporting. In addition, he or she will be assigned special projects by executive and financial management within PEL from time to time.
Essential Functions
High visibility and interaction with senior management including Divisional Vice Presidents in various operation business units; assist with communication of results and analysis to CEO, CFO, CAO and corporate senior management
Oversight of all aspects of the Company’s project accounting system, including corporate revenue recognition practices, standard cost and variance analysis, backup and support for accounting entries, job setup/maintenance, and corporate audit support
Oversee Month End activities for revenue and cost
Manage multi-locational team
Review and analyze various account reconciliations
Maintain, revise as necessary, and oversee compliance with all of the Company’s project accounting-related control narratives
Ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place and followed for the Company’s project accounting function
Lead the department in supporting the Operations team’s project accounting-related needs, including job cost analysis, reporting, and ongoing education
Supervise and oversee monthly project accounting exception reporting
Assist the Company’s finance department with project accounting gap analyses and overall project accounting integration for entities that may be acquired by the Company from time to time
Assist the Divisional Vice Presidents, Controllers and Director of Contracts with the development, maintenance, and oversight of intercompany arrangements, as appropriate
Assist the CFO, CAO, Corporate Controller and Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis with various overall business analytics, data mining and ad hoc projects that may arise from time to time
Assist with financial system implementation and upgrades
Able to transition any new responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time in an efficient and timely manner
Requirements
10+ years of experience in the accounting and finance sector with an emphasis in project accounting
7+ years of experience managing other accountants and professionals
Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance or related field
Strong ability to manage and coach multiple employees to provide workflow direction, performance feedback, and career development support
Thorough knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications including Excel (Pivot Tables, advanced functions, and data mining)
Strong US GAAP financial reporting technical skills, specifically related to revenue recognition
Preferred Qualifications
CPA, MAC, and/or MBA preferred
Strong experience in both the private and public accounting sectors
Construction industry experience
Experience with a Finance ERP, especially Oracle Cloud Fusion
Other Skills and Abilities
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate information and recommendations in a concise and timely manner to managers, peers, key Company customers, and third-party providers
Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple finance and non-finance user groups and stakeholders
Ability to write reports, technical memorandum and conclusions, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Confidentiality, understands the ethical standards of a CPA
Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product
