For more information, visit www.jmco.com. We are seeking a Tax Manager to join our Tax team. While this is a remote role, applicants must live within a two-hour driving distance of any Florida office (Gainesville, Daytona Beach, Deland, Ocala or Tallahassee) to enable in-person collaboration as needed. Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of tax clients, providing high-quality services tailored to their needs. Utilize accounting, tax, and related software expertise to optimize processes, streamline workflows, and enhance client deliverables. Ensure compliance with regulatory accounting and tax standards; stay updated on industry changes and best practices. Analyze financial performance, trends, and forecasts to inform decision-making and identify opportunities for value-added services and improved client satisfaction. Serve as the primary contact for clients and preparers regarding accounting and tax inquiries, issues, and recommendations. Apply appropriate accounting and tax theory to ensure accurate, reliable data and client satisfaction. Manage, direct, and monitor multiple client service teams on engagements. Plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects across various industries; delegate to tax preparers as needed. Interact with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise. Provide primary and secondary review of complex tax returns. Work with management to lead performance goals such as chargeable hours, growth, profitability, and innovation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals. Perform technical quality control reviews of work papers and engagement items. Support development and delivery of internal and external continuing education. Adhere to training and continuous education requirements; meet productivity, billing, and utilization standards. Distribute work appropriately among team members and the firm as needed. Complete complex tax returns accurately and efficiently. Contribute to interviewing, recruiting events, and onboarding as a department representative. Coach and delegate projects to staff while ensuring standards are met; begin developing areas of technical specialization. Meet productivity and efficiency standards (billable hours). Prepare and issue accurate invoices based on agreed terms and services rendered. Participate in department projects and committees to improve processes. Manage project lifecycles for client engagements and operations. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline. 5–7 years of comprehensive tax experience in public accounting. 3+ years of supervisory experience. CPA or CPA candidate preferred. Strong analytical and reasoning skills. Ability to manage and develop staff in a collaborative environment. Excellent client service and communication skills with demonstrated relationship-building ability. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of CCH Axcess Suite. Tax research experience. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and ability to operate a motor vehicle. Benefits
