GIS at U.S. Bank: U.S. Bank has become a leader in geospatial analytics within the Financial Services sector. As we evolve, we are building infrastructure for the future. We are a tightknit, motivated team seeking to augment our capabilities with a new team of system administrators/engineers to help develop new capabilities as ESRI evolves its geospatial offerings. We are seeking an experienced GIS System Administrator/Engineer to lead the administration, optimization, and support of our enterprise GIS infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have 7–10 years of progressive experience managing ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online, with strong expertise in backend technologies that support the Esri stack. This role requires technical depth, strong troubleshooting ability, and excellent communication skills, especially when resolving cross-system issues or coordinating with other IT stakeholders. Experience with formal IT service management (ITSM) and change management processes, such as ServiceNow, is necessary. Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain ArcGIS Enterprise environments across development, test, and production tiers
Manage ArcGIS Online, including user and group permissions, content lifecycle, web applications, and enterprise integration
Support and optimize ArcGIS Monitor to proactively track system health, usage, and performance
Proactively recommend improvements to capabilities in a rapidly changing IT environment as new technologies are developed and organizational needs and system utilization change over time
Configure and manage ArcGIS Notebooks and GeoEvent Server for advanced analysis, automation, and real-time data feeds; troubleshoot and resolve complex GIS service issues, including dependencies across network, authentication, storage, or cloud systems
Collaborate across IT teams (infrastructure, security, networking) to coordinate planned changes and respond to incidents
Ensure compliance with change management protocols, including submission, tracking, and communication of changes via systems like ServiceNow
Oversee backend infrastructure including web servers (IIS, NGINX), relational databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
Authentication services (SAML, Active Directory)
Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for system tasks and deployments
Create and maintain detailed system documentation, standard operating procedures, and support materials
Coordinate with Esri Technical Support and Professional Services to minimize downtime and accelerate development of new technology/capabilities
The successful candidate should bring
5–10 years of progressive experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online in a production environment
Experience with ArcGIS Monitor, ArcGIS Notebooks, and GeoEvent Server
Proficiency with Esri components: ArcGIS Server, Portal, Data Store, Web Adaptor, ArcGIS Online, WebGISDR
Strong understanding of backend infrastructure including Windows and/or Linux servers, web services, SSL/TLS, firewalls, databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server), and cloud deployments of geospatial data and GIS applications
Experience with change management tools such as ServiceNow and ITIL/ITSM environments
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills across technical boundaries
Advanced scripting and automation experience (Python, PowerShell, etc.)
Experience supporting GIS in cloud and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure)
Familiarity with system monitoring, security patching, and performance optimization
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Five to six years of relevant experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
Esri certifications (e.g., Enterprise Administration Professional, System Design Associate)
Experience with Kubernetes and container-based ArcGIS deployments
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, or infrastructure-as-code
Experience with web development technologies such as JavaScript, React
Familiarity with federated ArcGIS architectures and high-availability configurations
Knowledge of geospatial data standards, governance, and metadata management
