Data Scientist
– Odyssey Systems, supporting the 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW), headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. It is the first human-centric warfare wing to consolidate human performance research, education and consultation under a single organization.
Location:
Wright-Patterson AFB, OH (remote option possible);
Contingent upon contract award .
Responsibilities
Develop, deploy, and tune novel unsupervised tree‑based clustering machine learning models.
Explain how several classes of algorithms work; describe and, if required, code a decision tree from scratch.
Explain the difference between density-based and binning-based clustering.
Explain how the k‑nearest neighbors algorithm works; implement KNN from scratch and describe/implement an optimized version if needed.
Write an optimized list sorting algorithm from scratch in less than one hour with no external resources.
Generate a distance matrix, minimize its size in code, and demonstrate writing vectorized code.
Obtain HIPAA training prior to performance of work and ensure maintenance of HIPAA standards to prevent data leaks.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Ability to obtain NACI
Education: Bachelor’s degree in an applied quantitative field
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years deploying predictive analytics
Other Requirements:
Experience with Python and object-oriented programming
Experience with standard data manipulation tools in Python (NumPy, Pandas, etc.)
Experience with standard plotting in Python (Matplotlib)
Experience with Sci‑Kit Learn and Python’s open‑source ML software
Signed Non‑Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with the company; NDA to be provided to Government Program Manager by start of performance
Preferred Qualifications
Education concentration may include Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, and Economics
Experience with:
Developing dashboards with software engineers to enable interaction with AI technologies
Pre-trained language models
Dimensionality reduction techniques
TensorFlow, PyTorch or other GPU-enabled deep learning libraries
Working with USAFSAM
Familiarity with human biology and human performance
