We're seeking a seasoned finance professional to strengthen our accounting and compliance operations in the U.S. market. This role will focus on improving financial reporting processes, ensuring regulatory alignment, and supporting the organization\'s transition from international to U.S. accounting standards.
This is a hybrid role that blends on-site and remote work, based out of our regional office in southeast Michigan.
Overview
Role focused on regulatory alignment, audit readiness, process optimization, and operational consistency to support U.S. GAAP adoption, SOX controls, and precise financial reporting. Responsibilities
Regulatory Alignment:
Support the shift from international accounting standards to U.S. GAAP and internal controls under SOX. Contribute to creating tools and workflows that meet evolving compliance obligations. Audit & Assurance:
Partner with internal and external audit teams by providing timely, accurate documentation and clarifying complex financial data when needed. Ensure audit-readiness through proactive control and reconciliation measures. Process Optimization:
Collaborate with both finance and cross-functional teams to streamline reporting methods and identify areas for continuous improvement. Operational Consistency:
Lead efforts to standardize accounting processes and procedures across the organization, driving best practices and alignment with corporate financial strategies. Controls & Reconciliations:
Conduct monthly account reviews, investigate discrepancies, and support the refinement of internal control documentation and procedures. Month-End & Reporting:
Play a key role in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including journal entries, variance analysis, and consolidated reporting. Systems Integration:
Contribute to financial systems development and data visualization tool deployment (including platforms such as SAP, SAC, and other BI tools like Qlik). Ad Hoc Projects:
Lead or support special finance-related initiatives, such as technical accounting memos, complex transaction analysis, or one-time reporting deliverables. Health & Safety Culture:
Promote a safety-conscious mindset in all tasks and support compliance with health and environmental protocols, including appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when required. Ideal Background
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Certifications (preferred):
CPA or CMA designation Experience: Minimum 5 years in accounting/financial reporting Background in public accounting (Big 4 or similar) and/or within large manufacturing operations Technical Tools: Advanced Excel skills SAP ECC and SAC exposure preferred Experience with financial analytics platforms (e.g., QlikView/QlikSense) Knowledge Areas: Strong familiarity with U.S. GAAP standards Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is advantageous Understanding of SOX and compliance reporting frameworks Travel:
Minimal (less than 5%) Additional Requirements: Must meet health and safety requirements, including PPE guidelines Respirator use may require specific grooming standards for proper fit Job Details
