Position Summary The Senior BSA Analyst plays a critical role in safeguarding Metro Credit Union against financial crimes while ensuring full compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, FinCEN regulations, and related federal requirements. Leveraging advanced anti-money laundering (AML) software and investigative expertise, this role is responsible for reviewing escalated alerts, conducting complex investigations, and recommending appropriate actions.
As a trusted subject matter expert, the Senior BSA Analyst will collaborate across departments to strengthen Metro’s risk management framework, provide guidance on regulatory requirements, and partner with management to design, document, and enhance policies and procedures. This position requires strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to identifying suspicious activity that could pose financial, operational, or reputational risks to the Credit Union.
Responsibilities
Conducts comprehensive Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and ongoing behavioral reviews to ensure compliance with BSA/AML regulations and proactively identify potential risks.
Monitors, updates, and authors Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and reference materials to reflect evolving regulatory requirements; partners with management to design and implement new processes as needed.
Prepares and submits Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in accordance with FinCEN guidelines, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-documented filings.
Oversees the Currency Transaction Report (CTR) workflow within the automated compliance management system, ensuring deadlines are consistently met and reporting standards upheld.
Performs reconciliations of key reports to verify accuracy and adherence to procedures; works with internal teams to correct or obtain missing information required for regulatory compliance.
Reviews, analyzes, and resolves alerts generated by anti–money laundering software, escalating issues as appropriate and documenting findings in detail.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date Know Your Customer (KYC) records, supporting robust member due diligence and regulatory compliance.
Collaborates across departments to investigate suspicious activity, mitigate fraud risks, and recommend corrective actions.
Provides mentorship and training to new team members, reinforcing best practices and promoting a strong compliance culture.
Leads and participates in special projects involving system upgrades, workflow enhancements, or process improvements to strengthen the BSA/AML program.
Performs additional duties and supports compliance initiatives as assigned by management.
Qualifications Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience strongly preferred.
Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience strongly preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Certifications
BSA Certification and/or Certified Anti-Money Laundering ("CAM") certification preferred.
Strong understanding of compliance and regulations related to departmental duties such as Chapter X, the USA Patriot Act and the FFIEC BSA/AML Examination Manual.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to perform work with accuracy and diligence.
Strong time management skills.
Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
Ability to present information in a clear and easily understood manner.
Ability to work independently but also be a team player when required.
Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.
Ability to adapt to change.
