Overview
Tax Associate – Grant Thornton As a Tax Associate at Grant Thornton, your primary responsibilities will consist of tax consulting and tax return preparation duties, including tax research, tax planning, and the preparation of supporting digital work papers for various tax returns and tax-related projects. You will work with entities such as corporations, partnerships, estates, trusts, and non-profits, and with industries including real estate, consumer industrial products, financial services, and healthcare. Procedures vary by engagement and experience, ranging from data-input review and using technology tools to working on a project from start to finish. You will collaborate with seniors, managers, and partners on all phases of the project. Opportunities exist within Federal Corporate and Partnership, State and Local Tax, International Tax, and Private Wealth Service lines.
Responsibilities
Review data input, identify and resolve technical tax issues, and assist in reviewing tax preparation completed by colleagues in Bangalore, India
Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other taxing authorities
Identify, research, and assess various tax issues while providing information to senior staff
Provide on-the-job training to junior staff
Identify and carry out other projects as assigned
Collaborate with client team members while building rapport and strong client relationships
Other duties as assigned
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review data input, identify and resolve technical tax issues, and assist in reviewing tax preparation
Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other taxing authorities
Identify, research, and assess tax issues and provide information to senior staff
Provide on-the-job training to junior staff
Identify and carry out other projects as assigned
Collaborate with client team members while building rapport and strong client relationships
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Juris Doctorate, or Tax LLM
Minimum major and overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 preferred
Completion of necessary education hours to be eligible for CPA licensure or licensed attorney status
Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong technical aptitude and skillset
Demonstrated project management, including planning and time management
Ability to work efficiently in a complex team environment
Willingness and ability to work additional hours and travel to client sites
Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future
Skill Requirements
Analytical, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong technical aptitude and project management abilities
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
The base salary for this position in the firm’s Baltimore office is $85,000 per year.
