DESCRIPTION HappiLabs is a small business based in Chicago that provides a service to scientists called the Virtual Lab Manager. We support scientists in various ways, virtually, and act as an outsourced purchasing department (some might say a Personal Shopper) for biotech companies and scientific research labs. We are changing the ways scientists spend their money. As the Finance Operations Associate, you will own and lead day-to-day accounting in a fast-paced, mission driven organization. We are looking for a detail-oriented, motivated self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment, has excellent accounting skills, and is passionate about science, innovation and helping to grow a small business. You will be onsite from time-to-time, the first official in-house finance hire, and will have the opportunity to implement new processes and help define accounting operations at HappiLabs EXPERIENCE

Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or business management

1+ years focused-experience in small businesses/startups and accounting or finance

A strong candidate will enjoy this role if: You have created something useful or have a track record of quantifiable problem solving

You are proficient in online accounting software (Quickbooks Online, Google Suite, Excel, and Bill)

You've presented financials with thoughtful analysis

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including but not limited to, accounts receivable/billing, accounts payable, revenue recognition, cash management, fixed assets, payroll, tax, account reconciliations and monthly close

Manage interactions between our outsourced accounting and bookkeeping firms

Basic bookkeeping and review & analyze monthly financial data for forecasting and budgeting purposes

Help plan, implement and supervise the company's financial strategy

Effectively prioritize and execute tasks conforming to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines

Identify inefficiencies & recommend solutions with current processes at team meetings

Report progress and solve problems at team meetings

Report to the VP of Operations and CEO

COMPENSATION

$50k-60k, depending on experience
