Description

Social Media Coordinator - Common Citizen

**Location:** Metro Detroit area (must be able to travel to Common Citizen / LIV / Pure / Xplore Lapeer retail locations)

**Type:** Full-time (on-site / hybrid depending on candidate)

**Reports to:** Head of Marketing About Common Citizen

Common Citizen is a Michigan-based cannabis company and lifestyle brand that blends craft cannabis with culture - from our greenhouse farm to our retail experience. We're building a people-forward brand and look for teammates who care about community, creativity, and the positive role cannabis can play. Role Summary

You'll own day-to-day organic social across our brand family (Common Citizen + associated retail banners), create scroll-stopping short-form content, and be the field reporter who captures the local energy at stores - artists, vendors, guests, and community partners. You'll turn on-the-ground moments into a consistent social rhythm that builds community, drives store traffic, and supports sales/promotions. Key Responsibilities

• Daily platform management - Plan, write, schedule, and publish organic content across Meta (Instagram feed, Reels, Facebook), X, and TikTok (as we scale). Manage comments, DMs, and community engagement with voice consistent to Common Citizen and LIV brands.

• Short-form video + photo production - Shoot and edit Reels/TikToks and grid content (on-phone filming, basic lighting, b-roll, captions, vertical edits). Rapid turnaround for timely promos and store events.

• Field content capture - Regularly visit retail stores (Common Citizen, LIV, Pure, Xplore Lapeer) to capture organic, authentic content: staff moments, customer experiences, product features, pop-ups, local collabs, and in-store displays. Own the content pipeline from capture to publish.

• Local market scouting & partnerships - Build a deep local pulse: identify artists, restaurants, vendors, and community partners at each store market; initiate collaboration opportunities and co-created activations/content.

• Content calendar & campaign execution - Maintain an editorial calendar aligned with promotions, retail events, and seasonal pushes. Coordinate with store managers and the cross functional marketing team to amplify campaigns cross channel.

• Analytics & optimization - Track performance (engagement, reach, saves, referral traffic to store pages), produce weekly and monthly reports, and iterate on what works. Set A/B tests for creative/caption formats.

• Compliance & brand safety - Ensure all posts follow Michigan cannabis advertising rules and company brand/creative guidelines; flag legal/compliance risks to Marketing leadership.

• Influencer & creator relationships - Identify, outreach, and manage micro-influencers/creators for store-based content and partnerships; coordinate briefings and compensation where needed.

• Asset management - Tag and organize content in the brand DAM (digital asset manager) so stores and the marketing team can re-use approved assets. Must-have Qualifications

• 1-3+ years experience running social channels (Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook, X) - ideally for retail, F&B, lifestyle, or cannabis brands.

• Strong portfolio of short-form video work (Reels / TikToks) and social copy examples - must include sample assets or links to social accounts you've run.

• Comfortable filming on-phone (iPhone/Android), basic lighting, sound, and editing using tools like CapCut, InShot, Adobe Premiere Rush, or similar.

• Solid writing skills - on-brand captions, CTAs, and quick-turn copy for promotions.

• Familiarity with Meta Business Suite, Creator Studio, or third-party schedulers (Later, Sprout, Hootsuite, Buffer).

• Basic analytics literacy (insights, engagement rate, CTR). Ability to turn data into recommended creative changes.

• Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between store locations during workweek.

• Must be organized, proactive, and comfortable working both independently in the field and as part of a marketing team. Nice-to-have

• Experience in the cannabis industry and awareness of advertising/compliance best practices for cannabis (preferred).

• Photo skills (DSLR experience) and/or experience with studio-style product photography.

• Paid social experience (setting up/optimizing Meta ad boosts & basic ad manager knowledge).

• Experience building local partnerships or events programming. Physical & Scheduling Notes

Expect regular in-market days where you'll visit 3-6 stores/week (content capture, micro-shoots, local partner meetings). Some weekend or event work may be required for activations and sponsorships. Field first role.
