The Tax Manager is responsible for managing client relationships, supervising tax engagements, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. This role involves reviewing complex tax returns, providing strategic tax planning, mentoring staff, and contributing to business development initiatives within the firm. Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Review Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and other entities. Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable tax regulations. Manage deadlines and filing requirements to avoid penalties. Provide proactive tax planning strategies for clients to minimize liabilities. Advise clients on implications of new tax laws and regulatory changes. Assist clients with IRS and state tax audits and correspondence. Client Relationship Management Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients. Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and service delivery. Identify opportunities for additional services and contribute to client growth. Leadership & Staff Development Supervise, train, and mentor tax associates and seniors. Review staff work, provide feedback, and support career development. Manage engagement teams to deliver high-quality client service. Support firm growth through networking, proposal development, and participation in business development efforts. Ensure compliance with firm policies and professional standards. Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s in Taxation preferred. CPA license required. 5–8 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting. Strong technical knowledge of federal and multi-state tax laws and regulations. Proven leadership, client service, and staff management skills. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH, ProSystem fx, UltraTax) and Microsoft Office Suite. Details
