Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart (NCDS) is a catholic, independent preparatory school for girls in grades 5-12. Since 1880, we have been educating women of courage and confidence. Position Overview NCDS seeks a detail-oriented and enthusiastic AR/AP Manager to partner with the Controller in managing the daily financial operations and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. This position is a 12-month full-time, in-person reporting to the Controller.
Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of accounts receivable and student billing operations to ensure accurate and timely processing and recording of all transactions.
Research, resolve, and communicate with families regarding inquiries and issues related to student billing.
Deposit all physical checks received.
Manage all aspects of accounts payable operations to ensure accurate and timely processing and recording of all transactions.
Oversee school credit card monthly reconciliations.
Prepare and distribute the annual budget and the monthly departmental expense reports, and work with department heads on adjustments and inquiries.
Assist in improving AR/AP processes, implementing internal controls, and streamlining workflows.
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with internal controls and school financial policies and procedures.
Support year-end closing procedures and annual audit preparations.
Provide financial support to the broader school community as needed.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
2-3 years of experience in an accounting or financial role (non-profit/private school preferred)
Strong knowledge of GAAP and AR/AP best practices
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Experience with QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Veracross Tuition Management is a plus
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
