Crucial Hire This range is provided by Crucial Hire. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more. Base pay range
$40,000.00/yr - $60,000.00/yr About the Company
At Crucial Hire, we’re not here to be the biggest; we’re here to be the best. For nearly a decade, we’ve been trusted advisors to CHROs, CEOs, and Boards across Fortune 500s, PE-backed firms, and high-growth companies. We operate with precision, discretion, and results—and we’re inviting ambitious early-career professionals to learn executive search the right way. About the Role
This isn’t a back-office role. It’s designed for someone who’s polished, independent, and ready to grow into a trusted HR and Talent advisor. If you’re smart, engaging, and the type of person people want to call back, you’ll thrive here. You’ll learn the business from the inside out, while taking on real responsibility from day one. Learn executive search hands-on
– join client visits, candidate meetings, and senior-level conversations. Run searches with impact
– support and eventually lead $70K–$300K HR leadership placements. Grow fast
– develop consultative sales skills and the presence to influence executives. Qualifications
0–5 years in recruiting, HR, or sales (internships, HR degree, or certifications all count). Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Psychology, or related field. Big Ten and top universities highly valued. Outgoing, coachable, and confident—someone who brings energy and curiosity to every interaction. Able to commute to our Gold Coast Chicago office 5 days/week (no remote option). Compensation & Growth
Commission:
10% on your own billings, plus override on select partner deals you support. Earnings Potential:
First-year recruiters typically earn $60K–$120K, with much higher upside as your desk grows. Mentorship:
Direct coaching from the Founder, plus peer support (you’ll work closely with another rising recruiter like Abby, who’s thriving in this role). Culture Fit
We value personality as much as credentials. You don’t need to be loud—but you do need to be interesting, polished, and the type of person who lights up a conversation. Someone smart, sharp, and fun—exactly the kind of person clients and candidates want to call back. This Role Is Not For
Individuals seeking 100% remote work who cannot meet in our Gold Coast and Loop offices. (Hands-on sales development and executive search training are all in person—our clients and candidates want to see you face-to-face, and so do we.) Job-hoppers looking for a short stop instead of a career. Those uncomfortable engaging executives directly: by phone, video, or in person, about their careers and or open opportunities our clients are trying to fill.
