As a member of our E&S Casualty team, you will be responsible for the production, underwriting and retention of profitable E&S excess casualty business through the cultivation and maintenance of broker relationships.

Responsibilities

Underwrite, market, quote, bind and retain a profitable book of excess and surplus lines business that meets profitability and growth targets. Operate within granted authority and guidelines and make referrals to underwriting leadership as appropriate.

Develop and execute production strategies and business plans to implement and maximize growth objectives and rate goals. Coordinate with other Munich Re business units to offer holistic solutions to clients.

Measure and optimize portfolio progress by reviewing underwriting data and monitoring industry best practices to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Cultivate and maintain professional wholesale broker relationships.

Represent the Munich Re brand at client events, seminars, meetings, etc.

Assist in day-to-day operations and projects as assigned with potential client, business group, divisional and corporate impact.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in insurance and/or reinsurance focusing on E&S casualty lines of business

Excellent underwriting, marketing and analytical skills

Advanced insurance certifications (e.g. CPCU) preferred

Advanced working knowledge of Commercial P&C / E&S products and insurance concepts, UW processes and procedures, laws and regulations, terminology

Proficiency in pricing models, tools and risk evaluation models

Successful track record of developing and maintaining strong relationships with wholesale brokers

Tech savviness and willingness to experiment with and learn new technologies

Ability to think strategically and function tactically

Exceptional communication skills that energize brokers, clients and colleagues and the ability to convey a vision and client-focused solutions

Ability to present and negotiate complex agreements with brokers

Effective time management and organizational skills

Willingness to travel 20%-30%

The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including San Francisco (CA), Phoenix/Scottsdale (AZ), Dallas (TX), and Chicago (IL). The salary range posted reflects market variations across locations. The offer will be adjusted per geography.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is

$135,600-$226,100 , plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. The company provides health insurance, wellness programs, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and PTO.

The salary estimate reflects varying market conditions across locations; higher end aligns with the San Francisco market. Actual salary depends on skills, experience, and internal comparisons. Most candidates start in the bottom half of the range.
