For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). Responsibilities

To provide technical assistance to the Intermountain Region’s Historic Preservation Services Program and regional parks in the discipline of landscape architecture. The enrollee is a project team member providing technical assistance in the identification, evaluation, assessment, treatment and monitoring of cultural landscapes in national park units throughout the Intermountain west. Projects could include but are not limited to: evaluation of cultural landscapes, the development of comprehensive landscape histories, evaluation of conditions, and development of treatment recommendations and alternatives. 40% The enrollee will assist in organizing and conducting treatment planning workshops and facilitating meetings, both in-person and virtually, for audiences with a wide range of subject knowledge and experience. Outcomes of these meetings will include treatment alternatives that meet park management goals, are professionally sound and meet preservation standards. 20% This position will be responsible for preparing written and graphic materials focused on cultural landscapes that may include writing, mapping, and graphics. Materials produced may include complete baseline documents such as cultural landscape inventories (CLIs), Cultural Landscape Reports (CLRs), and Landscape Management/Treatment Plans. The enrollee will communicate frequently with regional and park representatives. 40% Qualifications

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in landscape architecture, preservation of historically significant landscapes and other properties, and project management. OR MA/MS Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Historic Preservation Significant experience providing guidance on complex historic preservation issues that is professionally competent and in accordance with relevant laws, policies and standards; experience developing and executing multi-disciplinary projects focused on the study, documentation, assessment, treatment and monitoring of western cultural landscapes; knowledge of technical and science-based approaches to the documentation and treatment of historic properties; knowledge of traditional building techniques and materials. Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint Other

Overnight travel: May require infrequent overnight travel depending on residence of enrollee Health and Safety Considerations: Guidance and training will be provided on-site to ensure that enrollee is fully aware of health and safety considerations (every site is different and will involve different safety precautions and equipment). PPE will be provided, where necessary. Required Safety Gear: PPE may include, but is not limited to hard hats, face masks, gloves, safety glasses, and other gear necessary to ensure that the enrollee is prepared to work in varied environments. Physical requirements: Ability to work in varied and extreme environments, hike or walk in rugged terrain, and work in confined spaces.
