Join to apply for the Residential Counselor role at Justice Resource Institute Centerpoint is a 15 bed Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) for emotionally disturbed adolescent males. The primary mission of Centerpoint is the treatment and rehabilitation of adolescent males with mental illness and challenging behaviors. Centerpoint provides a secure, clinically intensive residential program that enhances growth and coping skills. The program’s ultimate goal is to enable each resident to attain optimal psychological and social growth; to transition to a less restrictive setting and eventually into the greater community. Responsibilities
As a Residential Counselor, you will take pride in working with a team who strives to make every day a little bit better for a group of adolescents while ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and staff. You will develop skills in providing enriching daily activities for students such as arts and crafts, recreational activities including offsite field trips, and more. You will create a safe and therapeutic community by supporting students in developing and modelling effective coping strategies. You will help students discover what makes them feel competent and valued by working with them to develop life skills such as cooking, banking, vocational skills, and more. Your day-to-day work will support students in developing a sense of self and provide them the skills to be successful in their next steps. Salary and Schedule
Salary: $21.00 an hour Schedule: Work week commitment of 40 hours combining 1st and 2nd shift hours with a mandatory weekend of Saturday or Sunday. Note: Due to the nature of our work and the youth who are depending on us, there are times where overtime may be mandated. Requirements
Must be 21 years of age. Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred; High School Diploma required. Residential program or mental health program experience preferred; experience working with specialized populations of adolescents preferred. Able to work independently while under the guidance of a supervisor. Available to work evenings, holidays, weekend shifts as required. Maintains valid driver’s license as transporting residents is required. Background and driving record checks will be performed. About JRI
