Responsibilities
Assume an active role in the US GAAP and Statutory monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting process for Talcott Resolution
Support the Company's external financial reporting for both US GAAP and Statutory accounting methods
Assist in analyzing and documenting earnings and other key financial variances
Will be involved in strategic initiatives and non-BAU projects, including onboarding of new Reinsurance Transactions
Maintains financial records of assigned functions or blocks of business and ensures that financial transactions and journal entries are properly recorded.
Streamline processes and procedures to continually improve efficiency and controls
Perform required internal controls and maintain documentation of the controls as required under SOX
Support ad-hoc financial reporting/analysis projects with little direction or supervision
Further develops technical understanding of insurance and reinsurance business
Provides opportunity to improve skills and expertise in finance discipline
Requires interaction with finance and business contacts outside of immediate department
Creates visibility to senior finance management through work assignments
Thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments requiring significant growth and learning in a short timeframe
Tests the ability to communicate, present ideas, and influence others
Demonstrates leadership capabilities through team effort, initiative, customer service, and integrity
Opportunities for internal training on a variety of topics
High exposure to special projects
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in accounting required, CPA or MBA is a plus
3-6+ years of accounting/finance experience preferably in the financial services industry or auditing
Strong baseline technical understanding of insurance and reinsurance, as well as the related accounting and reporting concepts
Experience in accounting, financial reporting, audit, financial statement preparation & analysis
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
Strong organizational and analytical skills with proven attention to details and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience with Reinsurance Transaction onboarding, or other complex technical transactions a plus
Strong aptitude to understand and work with large data sets
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Individual must possess a high level of initiative, be a self-starter, self-directed, highly motivated and must be able to work in a team and build relationships
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft/Oracle/other general ledger applications preferred
