This role, based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, supports U.S. leadership and combatant commands at strategic, regional, and operational levels. Relocation assistance is not offered; on-site work with no remote options is required. Position Overview
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital component of the Missile Defense System. It enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC provides a layered missile defense capability, connects and synchronizes autonomous sensor and weapon systems, and serves as a critical component of all ground and flight tests to verify and demonstrate capabilities. The Deputy will assist the Staff Engineering Project Manager in ensuring technical requirements, cost, and schedule are effectively executed. This role supports technical integration of teams, risk mitigation, and lifecycle requirements compliance within the Missile Defense System environment. Some travel (up to 35%) between program facilities, mainly in Colorado Springs, CO, and Huntsville, AL, is required. Key Responsibilities
Technical Support and Coordination: Assist in maintaining the Technical Solution Baseline and overall architecture integrity; Facilitate and track technical communications across Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and Resource Managed Organizations (RMAs); Follow up on technical issues to ensure resolution aligned with program requirements. Systems Integration: Support the breakdown of system requirements and their allocation to ARTs and RMAs; Perform detailed tracking of changes to system requirements and verify compliance. Project Execution Support: Assist in planning and maintaining technical documents such as the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP), System Integration Plan, and Risk Management Plan; Help monitor and report on technical metrics and deliverables; Contribute to the management of Control Account responsibilities owned by SE&V. Risk and Opportunity Support: Identify, assess, and track risks and opportunities at the SE&V level. Collaboration & Reporting: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet program objectives and deadlines; Provide regular status updates to the Engineering Project Manager and team leaders. Basic Qualifications:
Please include your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable. A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM fields (Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related) with 8 years of experience is preferred; or a Master’s degree (preferred) with 6 years of relevant experience; or a PhD with 4 years of relevant experience. Applicants must possess a current, active DoD-issued Secret clearance at the time of application, with the ability to obtain Top Secret. Travel up to 35% is required. Foundational knowledge of systems engineering processes, systems integration, and requirements management; basic familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM); experience in Agile Development Environments (e.g., Jira, Confluence); strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering; INCOSE CSEP; OCSMP - MBF; Top Secret clearance; prior experience with C2BMC or Missile Defense Systems; MBSE principles and tools; project management or Agile certifications (PMI, Scrum, SAFe). What We Can Offer You
