Overview
The Continuous Improvement Lead Specialist plays a key role of strategically influencing process simplification, operational efficiency, and cultural change across the biological manufacturing site for animal vaccines in Lenexa. By directing cross-functional teams, this role will lead and support continuous improvement and lean initiatives that enhance productivity, compliance, product quality, and customer satisfaction. The role contributes directly to business transformation through the application of Lean principles, structured problem-solving, and change management strategies. Location: Lenexa, KS Responsibilities and Key Duties
Own the CI roadmap for a functional area or production stream, aligning initiatives with site-level strategic goals. Lead cross-functional CI teams, driving accountability and results across departments such as Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain. Report on CI performance to site leadership, including ROI, KPI trends, and cultural adoption metrics. Mentor and coach CI Specialists and project teams, fostering Lean thinking and structured problem-solving across all levels. Serve as a CI ambassador, influencing leadership and frontline teams to adopt a continuous improvement mindset. Lead high-impact Kaizen events and A3 projects, ensuring measurable outcomes and sustainability. Design and implement advanced CI tools and systems, including digital dashboards, automated reporting, and process mining platforms. Core Competencies

High level of proficiency in Lean tools, including 5S, Gemba, Kanban, PDCA, Kaizen, OEE, VSM Demonstrated knowledge and application of structured problem-solving techniques Well-versed in using Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, PowerBI, MiniTab, and ERP systems in a work setting Demonstrable advanced project management skills Working proficiency in computer programs necessary to support data mining, trending, statistical analysis, and graphical reporting. Qualifications
Education – Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or closely related field required. Master’s preferred. Work Experience: 5–7+ years CI experience, with leadership of cross-functional CI projects within a bio or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Other – Black Belt strongly preferred or in progress, understanding of life science or biologics production, USDA regulation, teaching/speaking in a group setting, and knowledge of lean manufacturing. Ability to qualify to work in a clean room environment when needed Travel
