Description of Work
The Director is an academic/administrative staff member who provides overall leadership and vision for programs and services that support excellence in teaching and learning for all UNL instructors. The Center for Transformative Teaching ( CTT ) Director reports to and works closely with the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Undergraduate Education ( SAVC ) to set strategy for the CTT team in supporting instructors’ teaching and learning needs. The Director closely collaborates with the academic colleges and other campus units (Libraries, Information Technology Services, Graduate Studies, etc.) to ensure the alignment of CTT goals and priorities in support of the university’s teaching and learning initiatives. The Director provides oversight, training, professional development, and evaluation for all CTT staff members, oversees the CTT budget, and serves on campus leadership teams related to teaching and learning.
The CTT Director’s key responsibilities include:
Developing, implementing, and assessing CTT programs and services that are informed by best practices in higher education to support excellence in teaching and learning and that lead to transformative educational experiences for UNL students.
Contributing to campus leadership teams related to supporting excellence in teaching and learning and student success.
Promoting instructor awareness of available CTT resources and programs to support their teaching.
Hiring, onboarding, training, and evaluating CTT staff.
Coordinating CTT staff project assignments and job expectations in alignment with the teaching and learning needs of the academic colleges that they support.
Overseeing the CTT budget that supports programming, instructor grants, staff professional development, and operating expenses.
Implementing appropriate assessment tools to measure program impact and using university data to guide and inform decision making for continuous improvement of programs and services.
Serving on other university committees as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Master’s degree plus seven years of experience in progressively responsible positions within a Teaching and Learning center or related academic support or an instructional design environment within higher education.
Experience with creating and implementing professional development programs or consulting with instructors on effective student-centered teaching and learning.
Record of scholarship on teaching and learning.
Significant teaching experience at the collegiate level.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse groups of faculty and staff.
Demonstrated managerial experiences, including the ability to set and manage a budget, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and delegate responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
Record of active participation in and contribution to national and/or international professional organizations in teaching and learning.
Demonstrated experience with strategic leadership around teaching and learning in a university setting.
