Contract Position Overview We are seeking a
Senior Supply Chain Business Analyst
to support a critical logistics and supply chain transformation initiative. This brand-new project involves implementing inventory and warehouse management processes from the ground up, defining vendor relationships, and ensuring seamless integrations between systems.
The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who can independently drive initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams across IT, finance, operations, and third-party vendors. This role requires a deep understanding of supply chain operations, experience implementing warehouse systems and planning tools, and strong documentation and process analysis skills. Key Responsibilities
Capture business, functional, and non-functional requirements through interviews, workshops, observation, and document analysis.
Document current and future-state inventory workflows including receiving, stocking, picking, transfers, reconciliation—using industry best practices (BPMN, VSM).
Conduct gap analysis to identify differences between existing processes/tools and the desired system capabilities.
Engage SMEs, process owners, accounting, supply chain, technology teams, and vendors to ensure process and technical alignment.
Write clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria specific to inventory transactions and reporting.
Apply forecasting methods and warehousing best practices to optimize inventory management.
Support vendor selection, coordination of demos, requirements gathering, testing, and ongoing support.
Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure audit trail integrity and SOX compliance.
Assist with system implementation, including test planning, UAT support, data cleansing, item master validation, and post-go-live support.
Identify training needs and adoption risks; develop training materials and user guides as needed.
Core Competencies
Business and systems analysis with ability to document and translate business requirements into system specifications.
End-to-end understanding of inventory processes and transaction flows.
Skilled in creating clear process documentation and value stream maps.
Able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
Analytical thinking with attention to detail.
Technical & Systems Knowledge
Understanding of core modules in supply chain and inventory systems.
Awareness of system integration components like APIs and middleware with ERP and logistics platforms.
Familiarity with KPIs such as inventory turnover, shrinkage, reorder points, and cycle counts.
Ability to define system-specific test cases for inventory transactions (receipts, adjustments, returns).
Experience supporting vendor systems implementation and systems integration across platforms.
Domain-Specific Expertise
Strong knowledge of replenishment strategies, safety stock, demand forecasting, and warehouse operations.
Understanding of financial implications tied to costing methods (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average).
Experience with audit trails, SOX controls, and compliance processes.
Master data governance (SKU standardization) and collaboration with teams on reporting needs (forecasting, visibility, performance KPIs).
Project & Delivery Skills
Adaptable documentation style based on delivery method (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
Ability to define and execute UAT, including user story validation and system behavior testing.
Experienced in mapping, cleansing, and validating item master data and stock balances.
Capable of driving adoption through change management, user training, and support planning.
Required Experience
5+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or inventory management roles.
Hands-on experience implementing or supporting WMS, ERP, or inventory planning tools.
Background working with cross-functional project teams, especially involving IT and Operations.
Strong understanding of procurement, fulfillment, and vendor management processes.
Preferred Experience
Background in complex or international supply chain operations.
Familiarity with multi-site inventory and advanced warehouse operations.
Experience with multi-vendor environments and third-party logistics partners.
