The ODU Libraries Head of Systems Development is responsible for overseeing and managing the key information systems that support the Libraries' functions and services. This position supervises the Systems Administrator and the Brickell Library Systems Librarian, coordinating enterprise solutions including the integrated library system and discovery layer (Clarivate Alma Primo VE, OCLC WMS), institutional repository (Digital Commons), link resolver (EZ Proxy), interlibrary loan (ILLiad), Special Collections and University Archives (Preservica), and SpringShare suite. The role also involves acting as the primary administrator of the libraries' website and intranet, in collaboration with the Web Advisory Team and University Communications, and managing the Brickell Medical Sciences Library testing lab. The position requires identifying, developing, and managing technology infrastructure to meet current and future needs of faculty, students, and library staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited program or international equivalent.

Knowledge of digital initiatives, information technology, and academic libraries.

Understanding of library discovery services supporting academic library operations and strategies.

Some knowledge of web programming languages (JavaScript, HTML, CSS).

Knowledge of web accessibility standards.

Understanding of library application development processes including requirements gathering, testing, usability, and release management.

Experience in promoting and training on library systems.

Basic project management skills and team coordination experience.

Familiarity with Ivanti Portal Manager.

Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, communication, and project management skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively, maintaining relationships across diverse groups.

Progressively responsible experience with information technology.

Commitment to user-centered services and service excellence.

Experience managing enterprise library systems like Alma Primo VE, OCLC WMS, ILLiad, Preservica, EZ Proxy.

Experience in project management and building effective relationships with staff, administrators, faculty, and students.

Experience with web Content Management Systems (CMS).

Experience working in academic or public libraries.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of IT support ticketing systems and workflows.

Understanding of user authentication/authorization protocols.

Proficiency in programming/scripting languages, relational databases, APIs.

Management experience in academic libraries or similar institutions.

Experience with open-source systems, electronic resources, server and network infrastructure, digital collections.

Advanced coursework or degree in computer science or related fields.

Knowledge of web accessibility standards and ADA compliance.

Familiarity with version control systems like Git.

Degree in computer science, information systems, or related areas.
